Biografia

Miguel Macias Sequeira é estudante de doutoramento no CENSE FCT-NOVA desde 2021, estando a investigar transições energéticas justas. Mais especificamente, a sua tese de doutoramento explora o papel dos utilizadores de energia difíceis de alcançar, caracterizando audiências e desenvolvendo abordagens de apoio à escala local que serão testadas na Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. Miguel é mestre em Engenharia do Ambiente, pela NOVA School of Science and Technology da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, com um semestre na Warsaw University of Technology. Antes de ingressar no CENSE, trabalhou em três organizações reconhecidas, incluindo uma experiência profissional de um ano nos Países Baixos, abrangendo áreas como energia, alterações climáticas, economia circular e água. Paralelamente ao seu doutoramento, Miguel é voluntário na Parceria Local de Telheiras, uma rede comunitária que promove a sustentabilidade local e que está a desenvolver uma comunidade de energia renovável. Ele também é voluntário do GEOTA - uma ONG ambiental portuguesa. Miguel é um dos Embaixadores do Pacto Climático da União Europeia em Portugal.

 

Miguel Macias Sequeira joined CENSE FCT-NOVA as a PhD candidate in 2021, researching just energy transitions. More specifically, his PhD thesis is exploring the role of hard-to-reach energy users by characterizing audiences and developing local-scale support approaches which will be piloted in Lisbon Metropolitan Area. Miguel has a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, from the NOVA School of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon, with a semester abroad at the Warsaw University of Technology. Before joining CENSE, he worked on three renowned organizations, including a one-year professional experience in the Netherlands, covering areas as energy, climate change, circular economy, and water. Parallel to his PhD, Miguel is volunteering for the Local Partnership of Telheiras, a community-led network that promotes local sustainability and that is developing a renewable energy community. He also volunteers for GEOTA - a key Portuguese Environmental NGO. Miguel is one of the European Union's Climate Pact Ambassadors in Portugal.
